5 Bayview Avenue

Adrift cottage, constructed around 1940, is one of the Vaughan Cottages in Beach Point, originally run by David Vaughan. Architecturally, it is a close cousin — perhaps a sibling — of 3 Bayview Avenue. A couple from Oklahoma City paid $342,250 for the property in 2015.

Bayview Avenue was the central east-west spine of the East Harbor Beach subdivision of 1915.

Life out here has a very different tenor than downtown. People are here for the sun and the sea and a loosening of limbs — let others worry to death about their manicured shrubbery and tuckpointed chimneys.
