Shawnee cottage, constructed around 1950, is one of the Vaughan Cottages in Beach Point, originally run by David Vaughan. A large porch was added that gives Shawnee a slightly grander — or at least more capacious — appearance than Buoy and Adrift. That’s fitting, because it sits on a double lot. Two residents of Bridgewater paid $50,000 for the property in 1994.

Bayview Avenue was the central east-west spine of the East Harbor Beach subdivision of 1915.

Life out here has a very different tenor than downtown. People are here for the sun and the sea and a loosening of limbs — let others worry to death about their manicured shrubbery and tuckpointed chimneys.
