92 Bradford Street. [2016, Dunlap]
Text last updated on 24 July 2016 | It probably goes without saying that Mrs. Elder was one of the oldest residents of Provincetown. But she had a far greater distinction. Salome A. G. Elder (±1845-1937) was the first librarian of the Provincetown Public Library. She was the daughter of James and Rebecca Nickerson Gifford, and the widow of William A. Elder. She lived and died in this house. John Souza Jr. (b±1929), a carpenter, and his wife, Isabel M. (Duarte) Souza (b±1933), acquired the property in 1957 and raised five children here: Gail Marie (b±1954), Judith Elizabeth (b±1957), Louisa Ann (b1959), John Stephen (b1960), and Steven (b1963). The property has been owned since 2013 by David M. Bowd and Kevin O’Shea, proprietors of the abutting Eben House.
