Connell’s Garage

The garage is highlighted on Plate 12 of this 1938 Sanborn map. On the opposite side of Bradford Street, you can see the “Garage” that is today the Provincetown Theater, at No. 236 (now No. 238). [Town of Provincetown | Document Center 2857]

Text last updated on 13 November 2016 | Connell’s Garage operated here from the 1920s through the 1940s. Its layout followed much the same footprint as the Courtyard Condominium, also at 235-237 Bradford Street, suggesting that some of its buildings may not have been demolished, but transformed: an irregular U-shape with auto stalls on the east and south sides, and a repair shop on the west side. The gas pumps were in what is now a parking lot.

Jack Connell wrote on 9 March 2011: This was my father’s garage, Connell’s Garage, from the early ’20s to the early ’40s. I have pictures.
