Sherman Paul Russell (1921-1986) was the son of Antone Nunes Russell (1875-1949) and Emma A. (Sylvia) (Tarvis) Russell (1877-1946), whose parents had come from Faial and from Flores in the Azores. His brothers were Anthony Russell and Loring Russell. Sherman was stationed at the Highland Coast Guard Station in Truro during World War II. Later in the 1940s, he skippered the scalloper Jennie B., on which Loring also worked. He married Avis Elizabeth Burden (1920-2014) in 1942, and they owned this house until 1990, when it passed to their son Dwight P. “Fuzzy” Russell. It was sold in 2015.
