A gorgeous Greek Revival-style entryway, with fluted pilasters and a lintel with dentils (!), was the mark of a house that had not undergone one renovation after another in recent decades — at least until 2022. The property was purchased for $10,000 in 1964 by Philbert M. Roderick (1934-2018). Roderick was the son of Joseph and Justine Roderick of School Street. He served in the U.S. Navy submarine service and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Albacore in 1959, when he wed Joanne Mae (Oliver) Roderick (1932-2005), who had graduated from the Cape Cod School of Practical Nursing. Phil drove school buses, Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority buses, and trucks. His last job was with the Town Department of Public Works. He also served on the Provincetown Rescue Squad and as a volunteer firefighter with Engine Company 1. His estate sold the property in 2020 for $810,000 to a Dorchester resident. The house was renovated and expanded two years later.
