For nearly a century — 99 years, to be exact — 15 Bradford Street was the Souza family homestead. A plaque over the front picture window attested to the fact. The property was acquired in 1922 by Phoebe Charino (Silva) Souza (1891-1956) from Manuel Cabral. It was the longtime home of Phoebe’s son John F. Souza (1926-2011), a laborer, and of his wife, Mary Carmen (Ribeiro) Souza (1918-1999); of his son John F. Souza Jr. (1961-2003), a truck driver, and of his grandson John F. Souza III. In 2021, John III sold the property for $1.252 million to a Boston resident.

Further to the purchase of 15 Bradford, the new owner, Terrence West, initiated extensive, historically appropriate renovations to restore the home and bring it back to an original, single family home.
