Updated on 20 July 2026 | Yes, there is an “X” in the Provincetown gazetteer: a short pedestrian way connecting the former High School and Elementary School. What makes the dead-end journey worthwhile are pylons ornamented with (what are evidently) students’ self-portraits. The installation was overseen by the Provincetown Schools Community Project, the art department, the industrial arts department, and the Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill. I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t know yet why the path is called Xavier Way.
