Is it possible that this is the “new Benson-built cottage of Alice Lightmas” on Highland Road in North Truro that was mentioned in the Provincetown Advocate of 26 July 1956? Lightmas was described as a nurse in a Connecticut hospital who was about to retire that year. “Benson” may refer to a Truro building contractor named Fred E. Benson (1882-1963), or to his son Vincent Benson (1916-1986). Highland Road, which leads to Highland Light, is within the Cape Cod National Seashore. It’s conceivable that the Lightmas house was purchased by the federal government or taken by eminent domain, after which the structure was moved to Tin Pan Alley Road.
