Herring Cove Beach bicycle entrance

[2009, Dunlap]

Text last updated on 6 February 2015 | Even before you catch a glimpse of Herring Cove Beach from Route 6A, you can get a pretty good idea of how crowded it is by the number of bicycles chained to the split-rail fence near the southern end — which is largely, though not exclusively, a male province. For beachgoers, it’s all on foot after this; about three-fifths of a mile through the dunes and marshes.
