Updated on 22 August 2026 | During its time in Provincetown, U.S.C.G.C. Acushnet participated in the rescue of Mary Madelyn in June 1958. The dragger, under Capt. Clarence Santos, had started rapidly taking on water after a dory stove a plank in the hull. Acushnet steamed to the scene, pumped the water out, and escorted Mary Madelyn back to port. Capt. Santos was uninjured, as was Sears Edwards, the crew member.1
