There doesn’t seem to be a lot of turnover in the woods around Atkins Mayo Road. Thank goodness. This property, for instance, has been in the same family since 1953. The artist Mary Spencer Nay Block (1913-1993) and her husband, Lou Block, who lived in Louisville, Ky., acquired the property that year from Maud Ainslie, also of Louisville, who’d acquired it 36 years earlier from the estate of Philip A. Whorf. It has been owned since 2001 by Nathaniel Nay Block.
