Updated on 27 May 2026 | Mary Loring (Silva) Lambrou (1931-2026) was a well-known figure in town. She was the right hand for 60 years to Dr. Daniel Hiebert and then his daughter, Ruth Hiebert, as bookkeeper, personal assistant, secretary, and chauffeur. “She served at town meeting and the polls for more than 30 years, helped organize town records, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at the senior center, which she loved,” The Provincetown Independent said in her obituary. “Mary faithfully attended St. Peter the Apostle Church and loved singing in the choir, especially at the holidays.”1 She and her husband, John A, Lambrou Jr. (1929-2000), bought this property from Dr. Hiebert’s estate in 1983. They paid $17,000. Mary’s father was Frank “Spucky” Silva, a Coast Guardsman for more than a quarter of a century. With his brother Louis, Spucky built the dune shacks now known as Euphoria and Thalassa. Mary’s sister, Helen Gertrude (Silva) Valentine (1930-2026), was the longtime proprietor of Valentine’s Guesthouse, 88 Commercial Street.
