Text last updated on 19 September 2016 | Here’s a guess (for the moment, at least): this marvelously incongruous “modern” facade on a mid-19th-century house may have been the work of Jean F. Kaeselau (1928-2000), a builder, who collaborated with the architect Jack Hall on the Hatch house in Wellfleet, and was also responsible for projects at Provincetown Municipal Airport and the Provincetown Art Association. Astonishingly, this property has been in the hands of the same family since 1929, when the proprietor of Cesco’s restaurant, Francesco Ronga, sold it to Stephen Jesse Perry (±1896-1959), a native of São Miguel in the Azores, who was married to Eva (Tasha) Perry. In 1959, just weeks before Perry died, their daughter Avis Frances Perry married Jean Kaeselau, the son of the painter Charles Kaeselau. Avis and Jean Kaeselau’s son Treg — that is, Stephen Perry’s grandson — has owned this house since 1991.
