The cemetery chapel and the Calvary. [2012, Dunlap]

Chapel of the Cemetery of St. Paul the Apostle. Within a year of his appointment as pastor of St. Peter’s in 1951, Monsignor Leo J. Duart (1904-1975) began the first of what were to be five major capital projects: the rehabilitation and beautification of the cemetery. This was followed by a substantial renovation of the main church, the construction of a Parish Hall, the creation and construction of St. Peter’s School, and — finally — the construction of the cemetery chapel, financed by money that Father Duart left in his will. His own burial place is near the chapel, by a sculptural scene of Calvary that was installed in 1934.

The cemetery chapel stands atop a hillock. I assume that the lower-level vehicle entrance permits the delivery of coffins. [2012, Dunlap]
