Mystery structure
The current satellite view in Google Maps clearly shows a structure (dead center in the image) between the Fowler and Grail shacks …
… but it does not appear on a Google map that I printed out and labeled in 2009 to guide me through my first visit to the Back Shore.
Text last updated on 31 January 2017 | Since 2010, when I last photographed the Back Shore, a relatively substantial building has appeared on the Google Maps satellite view, almost equidistant between the Fowler Cottage and the Grail, as these before-and-after photos show. As of this writing, I don’t know what it is. It does not appear on Robert J. Wolfe’s 2005 map, “Dune Shacks in the Central Group.” There is no structure between Dune Shack 11 and Dune Shack 12.
