“4 Winthrop Place was the lifelong home of my grandparents, Captain E.F. Gracie and his wife Mary, until it was sold around 1952,” Leo E. Gracie wrote on 22 December 2020. “He died in 1946 and she lived there before moving to a second-floor apartment in Herman Desilva’s home on Winthrop Street.”
