37 Alden Street

Shed at 37 Alden Street. [2012, Dunlap]

The shed at 37 Alden Street is so large and situated so prominently — directly on the street and surrounded by the verdant cemetery — it almost appears to be its own property.

  1. This building was originally on the property of 32 Standish Street, where it was probably the original kitchen. It was the property of Ted and Marilyn Rhodes where it housed some notable townies over the years until becoming “The Oasis”, where a beer and treats were stored for summer gatherings in their lovely yard. In early 2000s it was moved down the street to 37 Alden where it looks as if it has always lived, stylistically at home with the current antique house in a spacious yard. I have photos of it being moved and placed by Winkler, with his enormous crane, who is always careful, cheerful, and reliable.

  2. Thank you so much, Polly. Your respect for and appreciation of town history are inspiring.
